Ron
Andrews and Tim Dorgan, bought
the pub from the Jennings Brewery Co in Feb 2001.

The pub was fully operational by July 2001, after 6 months
of renovation work to the property, and careful character
building to The Ship.
The impact of the pub was pretty immediate around the
town and was succesful from the outset, after a few months
trade slowed and we were left with a loyal clientelle.
In September 2003 we decided to have a large extension
built to increase the capacity of the pub, by the middle
of December, the works had been carried out and were completed.
Suddenly with having a fine big room and 2 Big Screen
TVs in the building for sport, mainly soccer, The Ship
Launch took off BIG TIME, it was probably
the best move of all.
We are a member of the Egremont pub watch scheme in cooperation
with Cumbria Constabulary and we take this role very seriously,
we pride ourselves on our reputation, having a great pub
were people know they can come and have a drink without
having to look over their shoulders and worry about their
safety.
